In June 2015, our co-worker & friend, Isaac Blake, died by suicide. Isaac's death greatly affected the staff at Zion. We began to question the days leading up to the day that Isaac died. We still often wonder what we could have done or said to Isaac to help him. We will never be able to answer those questions. However, we can raise awareness.
September is suicide prevention & awareness month. Zion will be holding a community event on Sunday September 10, 2017 to raise awareness of suicide prevention & mental health wellness. We will start the evening with a 5K race and follow with speakers, light refreshments and a light the lake ceremony. Lanterns will be available to purchase for $3. Loved ones will place the lanterns on the lake to honor the souls of those lost to suicide and those who continue to struggle with mental health. We are looking for the following people for our event: --counselors --psychiatrists --health care providers --speakers --local schools --loved ones affected by suicide (to tell your story) --people who have been suicidal (to tell your story of survival) We are looking for community support to make this event a success. Please contact me, Lori Kovacs, to make a tax deductible monetary donation to the Zion Foundation. All monies raised will be set aside and used only for this annual event. We want to continue this event for many years to come. Thank You Lori Kovacs 740-968-0955 [email protected] |
